PLEASE NOTE: I am so sorry, but I initially posted the incorrect date for this hike. I have already posted a hike to Mailbox Peak on June 10, and meant to post this hike for June 17. I have now corrected my error and I profusely apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment I may have caused, and I hope everyone who already signed up can come on this hike on June 17. Again, I am sorry and I hope to see you on the 17th.

Starting at the Little Si trailhead, we will first climb Little Si, then double back to climb Big Si, and summit Big Si, the real summit, the Haystack, before returning to the trailhead. The Haystack is a class IV scramble, although the biggest challenge is mental, as it is rather exposed. If there is enough interest, and enough participants, we might consider splitting the group, with one group returning from Mt. Si early, without summiting the Haystack, but we will have to carefully consider the car-pooling implications if we decide we want to do this.

We will hike at a moderate pace; if you have any concerns about your abilities to do this hike, please let me know in advance. Moderate pace means to expect to average about 2 miles per hour while actually moving over ground. Bring lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, and the 10 Essentials. If the weather is bad, we may postpone the hike by a day (or possibly longer).

Please be at the Lakewood I-5/WA-512 Park-'n-Ride for car-pooling prior to 6 AM so we can leave right at 6:00. YES, 6:00 AM; this is going to be a long day of hiking/scrambling.

Driving Directions: Take exit 32 on I-90 East for 436th Ave SE. Turn left onto 436th Ave SE, drive 0.6 miles. Turn left onto SE North Bend Way, drive 0.3 miles. Take the 1st right onto SE Mount Si Rd, drive 0.4 miles. Look for overflow parking lot on your left and main parking lot nearby with a sign marked "Little Si".

This hike is cross-posted with TRAILSIDE
