Novembers selection is Gullivers Travels, by Jonathan Swift. Completed in 1735, Gullivers Travels was immediately popular. As his friend John Gay wrote, From the highest to the lowest it is universally read, from the cabinet-council to the nursery. It can be read as a childrens story, as an adventure tale, or as a satirical work. Swift said he wrote this work to vex the world rather than divert it; in fact he did both. You may choose to read the entire work or one or more of the four travels. Either way, you will experience brilliant prose and subtle thought. Lets read it!
