Speakers:

Amy Lafko, MS PT, MBA

Amy has been a practicing physical therapist for over 15 years. Her clinical background includes a wide variety of settings with the primary focus in acute care but inclusive of inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing care and outpatient. Her first formal leadership position was as the Director of Rehabilitation Services at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center. Amy has a passion for traveling and capitalized on this as a contract therapist in several states, as well as volunteering in Da Nang, Vietnam. The desire to remain engaged in her career carried on as a contract therapist with many informal leadership opportunities.

Today, Amy continues formal leadership by serving as Director of Rehabilitation Services at York Hospital. Amy completed the LAMP program in 2012 and knows there is a lifetime of learning ahead. She is thrilled to help others find their own leadership path as a faculty member.

Kerry R. Wood, PT, DPT

Kerry Wood has been a practicing clinician for over 30 years, since receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont in 1985.She earned her tDPT from Simmons College in 2009.Kerry has clinical experience in hospital based outpatients, acute care and acute inpatient rehabilitation.She served for 24 years in practice management at the University of Vermont Medical Center where she now works as a per diem PT. Kerry has served multiple roles for the Vermont Chapter and for HPA The Catalyst where she is currently serving as Vice President.She served on the LAMP Task force in 2007 and has been a LAMP Faculty presenter for over 10 years.

COURSEDESCRIPTION:

This two-day course emphasizes the development of leadership behaviors fostering autonomous practice, accountability, professional values, diversity, and ethics. Attendees will learn how to influence others to create effective relationships, achieve shared goals, and resolve conflict. Prior to the course, attendees will complete a leadership self-assessment and other preparatory work.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and discuss the personal characteristics of an effective leader;
  • Recognize the importance of accountability, values and ethics and their impact on personal leadership;
  • Describe leader behaviors and communication styles that influence, align and empower others;
  • Select appropriate leadership styles and actions in response to real-life scenarios;
  • Formulate effective responses to conflict in a variety of situations; and
  • Design a personal leadership development plan with timelines.

Non-employee/On-call Therapist Cancellation policy:

Cancellations received at least five or more working days before the event are refundable, minus a $20 administrative charge per registrant. There is no refund for cancellations received less than five working days before thestart of course. A refund or voucher will be issued to any participant who is registered to attend a seminar that is cancelled by Centrex Rehab.

Centrex Employee Cancellation Policy:

  1. Centrex requires a one month cancellation notice from the registered employee. Eventbrite will send a registration reminder just before this time frame.
  2. Centrex will allow one emergency cancellation per employee every 2 years without penalty (i.e. you or family member is sick, car died, etc.)
  3. Any no show or cancellation without proper notice and beyond the one allowed emergency cancellation will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee.

You do not need to bring a ticket to the course with you.
