May 12 6:30AM - 10:30PM

On May 12th we will hike the North/South Trail 7.1 miles: Sections J to K and K to L. This hike will require about a 13 minute (~9 mile) shuttle from Trailhead marker L located along Forest Service Road #211 to Trailhead marker J located on south side of Forest Service Road 165. At 6:30 a.m. we will meet and park vehicles at Trailhead marker L. We will depart from this trailhead by 6:45 a.m. and head to Point K where we will be stopping to leave at least one vehicle (Along Forest Service Road #205) for safety/emergencies and for those that don't plan to hike the entire distance. Point K is 4.84 miles from start Point J and 2.24 miles to Point L where we will finish the hike.

The North/South Trail is classified as easy to moderate difficulty. This hike is planned to be done around 10:30 a.m. The allotted time for the hike is for a moderate pace of ~2 miles/hour that includes time to take photos, short breaks, and snacks. For trail sections J-L, see the following map for more information: https://www.landbetweenthelakes.us/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/NS-South2015.pdf

PLEASE NOTE THAT CELLPHONE SERVICE IS LIMITED IN THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES. WHILE WE HIKE THE RIDGES OF THE NORTH/SOUTH TRAIL SOME SERVICE MAY BE AVAILABLE.

Please let the organizer know if you do not plan to hike the entire distance so arrangements can be made for you to park at Point K. Please do not consider hiking the entire distance if you haven't hiked long distances. The first 1.7 miles of the trail is used by equestrians and trail conditions are expected to be rough for walking. There are also other trail sections that are eroded and may be slick. Therefore please dont wear tennis shoes/sneakers. Be sure to wear good ankle supporting hiking boots. If you have hiking sticks/poles, bring them; you will want the support.

If you and/or your guest aren't going to make this meetup, please change your RSVP to No by 6:00 pm May 11th. Being a no show for meetups is disrespectful to event organizers.

Meetup organizers/leaders are not guides. Expect the same risks and take the same precautions you would take if you were hiking alone.
