Join us at this wonderful adventure on Lake Jocassee to go kayaking, canoeing, camping, hiking, and swimming! It is a kayaking/canoeing trip, but if you are a diehard backpacker and cannot think of leaving the mountain trails even for a day then there is an option to get to the campsite on foot and join the waterborne part of the group there.
We are meeting at Hamilton Mill P&R at 8 am to carpool and drive to Devils Fork State Park at Lake Jocassee (its 1 h 38 min drive according to Google Maps). If you want to meet us at the park, be there by 10 AM.
We should get on the water by 10:30 AM and paddle North-East for 11-12 miles toward a large campsite near Toxaway river. I think we should be there no later than 5-6 PM.
The campsite is also accessible through Canebreak trail from the Frozen Creek Access (its 5 miles on a forest road). GPS coordinates of the campsite:[masked], -82.88661.
Next day we are going to hang out there until 11 am - noon and then paddle back.
I have an inflatable kayak that fits me and my dog Frisky. If you have a kayak/canoe that you can share, please post in comments. I also found this site for canoe/kayak rental: https://eclecticsun.com If you want to share a rental kayak/canoe, also post in comments.
