First off, thanks Mitch for putting me back on the Organizer Team!

Hike Stats:
7 Miles Round Trip

4 to 5 Hours

2300ft Elevation Gain

Level 6 Hike - Intermediate

Please note for those hikers who wish to avoid the switchbacks and Jones Peak, you are more than welcome end your hike at the cabin. This will knock about 2 miles off and make allowances for dogs as the trail up to the cabin is well worn and all dirt, no rocks.

Description:
We will all meet at the west side of the parking lot near the trail. From there we will hike 2.5 miles to our first rest stop at the old cabin ruins. We will rest for 10 - 15 minutes and then hike the longest one mile you have ever seen. It really does feel like a long one mile. Its all uphill so you might feel it the next day. The last 100 feet is a steep climb to the top of Jones Peak (See Photo) . We will take a break on top and then its all downhill for the next 3.5 miles back to the parking lot. This hike is very similar to the Echo Mountain hike. But it is far more shaded and scenic.

Although they are not required, the last mile to Jones Peak from the Bailey cabin ruins offers an excellent opportunity to practice using your trekking poles for going uphill and downhill. For, newer hikers this is will allow to gauge your level as I will be scheduling hikes in future months such as "Baden Powell" via Dawson Saddle, "Mt Waterman", "Ice House Saddle", "Mt Baldy" via The Notch and Devil's Backbone, "The Bridge to Nowhere", just to name a few.

Directions:
From the 210 freeway you will exit Baldwin Ave and head north. If you are coming from the west, you will exit Baldwin ave, turn left, then make a left at the light. Then make a right at the next stop. From here you drive 1 mile to then end and turn left onto W Carter Ave. Drive of a mile and you will see Bailey Canyon Park on your right. If the parking lot is full then park on Grove St paying close attention to signs.
