Please joins to celebrate Jean's 48th 4,000 footer. She has chosen a great hike in which many of can participate. It has great all round views of the Presidentials, and although it is a bit of a scramble, it is a relatively short hike as far as 4,000 footer go.

We hike at a pace 50% slower than the AMC Trailguide book time. Hike ratings: easy,easy/moderate, moderate, advanced moderate,moderate/strenuous, strenuous, very strenuous. On the home page,if you click on the PAGES button there is a hike rating system which explains the wait list.

We start as a group,we hike as a group and we end as a group. If you think you may not be able to keep up with the group, do not carpool. There are three other hiking Meetup groups if you want a faster pace or more challenging hikes (The New England Hiking Meetup, 4 Seasons Hiking Group, New England Over 40 Hiking Group). The hiking Meetup group, (Fellowship Of The Tortoise) does easier, slower paced hikes than this group. Our goal is to stay fit while enjoying the camaraderie of hikers who have similar skills and goals. If you click on the PAGES button on the home page, there is a Summer/Winter Hiking Gear List. This is a dog free hiking group. Everybody must join the group and have a picture up to be on a hike.

Trailhead: Take I-93 north to exit 35, take US-3 north, make a right onto US-302, make a left onto Cog Railway Base Road, make a left onto Jefferson Notch Road. Caps Ridge Trail Parking Lot is on the right.

Here is a Google Map Link:Jeff Caps Ridge Trailhead

The group will hike the Caps Ridge Trail to the summit of Mount Jefferson (5712'). Above treeline hiking for one half of the hike, summit views of the Presidentials. This is a steep and rough trail with numerous ledges that require rock scrambling. 5 miles round trip, 2700 feet elevation gain, AMC booktime 4.5 hours, 7 hours estimated time for our group.
