Join us on Saturday, February 10, 2018, as we PAVE THE WAY TO EQUITY, at KIPP LA Public Schools' 4th Annual Innovation Day.
Innovation Day will give attendees the opportunity to create meaningful connections with other educators doing the important work of "paving the way to equity" and will provide practical approaches and tools teachers can take back to their classrooms.
After a light breakfast of coffee and pastries provided by La Monarca, we'll kick off the day with a guided mindfulness session and Calm Classroom demonstration. Innovation Day attendees will then break out into sessions tailored specifically for elementary and middle school teachers. In this session, you will learn how teachers are using Google Classroom to differentiate instruction, build relationships, and make the radical shift from equality to equity in the classroom.
After a short break, Innovation Day attendees can choose one of two sessions:
Engaging English Language Learners with the iPad - In this session led by Apple, you'll learn how teachers are using the iPad to create interactive and engaging learning experiences for English-language learners. Explore built-in features on the iPad that help scaffold and support language acquisition and discover creativity tools that let students use language authentically and demonstrate knowledge in compelling ways.
Attendees will reconvene for a student panel discussion on the importance of culturally relevant teaching. We will then wrap up the day with a raffle. Stick around for your chance to win a fun, innovative teaching tool for your classroom! We'll be raffling off 2 Little Bits Code Kits and 3 Spheros!
Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to connect with peers as well as representatives from various instructional software companies that partner with KIPP LA. We'll be providing pizza for any attendees who wish to stay and continue conversations from the day!
**Innovation Day is a FREE professional development conference. Our goal is to provide LA's most talented educators a space and structure for connection, collaboration, and transformative conversation.**
