This training is for individuals with developmental disabilities, family members, and other community members, staff, advocates, professionals, or anyone interested in learning to become a paid or volunteer Independent Facilitator in the Regional Center's Self-Determination Program (funded by the Department of Developmental Services). The following topics will be addressed:
History and current status of theSelf-Determination Program in California
Person-Centered Planning; identifyinghopes, goals, and dreams; making informed decisions
The role of the Independent Facilitator; Principles ofSelf-Determination
Role of the Service Coordinator,Regional Center, and the development of the Individual Program Plan (IPP)
Individual Budget, Spending Plan, and the role of the Financial Management Service
Background checks, reducing the riskof abuse, and Mandated Reporting
Offered through a collaborative of self-advocates, family advocates, and agencies serving people with intellectual or developmental disabilities inthe greater Sacramento region.
