History Camp Iowa is the state's first and only unconference, featuring unfiltered presentations from history buffs, museum professionals, genealogists, archivists, academics, and people of all types who love history. An all-day history extravaganza, History Camp Iowa features more than 20 distinct presentations, behind-the-scenes access to the State Historical Museum, and opportunities to meet authors and learn about history organizations, all while surrounded by Iowa's historical treasures!

Past presentation topics have included:

  • Civil War propaganda
  • Hollywoods contribution to WWII
  • Iowas LGBT history
  • Presidential also-rans
  • Iowas Confederate soldiers
  • Scandinavian drinking culture
  • Family genealogy
  • Women in the Underground Railroad

Please note: check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and presentations begin at 9:30 a.m.
