This is a long, casual 12+ mile round trip hike to the Elk Falls(waterfall) in Staunton State Park, Coloradowith a one way elevation gain of ~900 feet. The hike is a steady up hill trek followed by a short down hill to Elks Pond and homestead ranch house at 8,846 feet (where we'll hopefully see the resident Marmotsliving in the rock outcroppings)followed by another up hill hike to Elk Falls Overlook at 9,150 feet.
