NOTE: Keep a weather-eye out! If the trails were closed Friday and/or there is a possibility of a Saturday closure the Sierra Club co-leader will on Friday night email those signed up on MeetUp that departure on Saturday will be delayed until 9 am. Participants will be advised to check Saturday 7:30 am trail conditions by calling GCSNA<a>[masked]</a>), going the the GCSNA website twitter feed (http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/government-canyon) or the GCSNA Facebook page, or calling the Sierra Club co-leader.

Join the Friends of Government Canyon and the Sierra Club for a jointly-led guided hike on one of the many trails at Government Canyon State Natural Area. Length of the hike will range from 4 to 7 miles depending on the group. Limited to the first 12 hikers; subject to cancellation.

Open to ages 13 and over; minors must be accompanied by an adult; no pets please. Dress appropriately for conditions(consider sunscreen, hat, raingear, ...)and wear sturdy shoes for hiking over rough terrain; bring two liters of water and a snack.

GCSNA is located at 12861 Galm Rd (Take FM 1560 west from Helotes to Galm Rd). There is a $6 entrance fee ($3 seniors). Meet 7:45 am at the Visitors Center by the rainwater harvesting tower for an 8:00 am departure with finish by noon. Difficulty: Moderate (some steep/rocky sections).
