Let's start with a moderate peak fondly known as Speckled Mountain. It is an 8.2 mile hike with moderate ratings. I've not hiked it yet so it will be a new adventure.

https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/maine/speckled-mountain-loop

We can meet at the park and ride in Gorham on Rte. 114 at 7am. It is just north of the traffic circle at the intersection of 114 and 112. From there we can carpool and convoy as needed to the mountain.

We should arrive at the mountain around 830am and be ready to hit the trail. I expect the hike to take 5-6hrs, depending on how many photo ops we take!, or so leaving us time to reward ourselves with a visit to the 302 Smokehouse and Tavern (optional of course unless you are riding with me!) on the way home.

This is hiking. There are inherent risks. Conditions on the trail can be slippery, muddy, have loose rocks and there may be snakes. We will hike as a group. I set a moderate pace but will not push anyone beyond their ability. If the hike takes longer to complete, so be it. Safety and enjoyment are the goals here.

Basic gear should include:

3 liters of water

Trailside lunch and snacks

Clothing for a change in weather

Bug Spray

10 Essentials of Hiking

I will watch the weather and make a final decision on Thursday evening if we should attempt the hike. Check in on Friday to see if it's on.
