Hike, Camp and Hangout at George Smith State Park

George Smith State Park is roughly a three-hour drive from Atlanta.

Let's meet up and carpool to the park, where we can set up camp at a group site and explore. Options for the day include renting inexpensive kayaks or paddle boats, with all-day rental options available for overnight campers.

There are also seven miles of trails to explore.

There is no predetermined itinerary -- folks can figure out what they want to do when we arrive. If you want to set up your hammock and take a nap while eating a bag of cheez-its, that's okay, too.

Each person is responsible for bringing their own tent, sleeping bag and food/drink.

If you go with the carpool, please give your driver a few bucks for gas. If you want to meet at the park that's cool, but please arrive after 12 p.m. so that I have time to arrive and check us in for the group campsite reservation, which is under my name. If you throw in $3-5 toward the cost of the campsite, that would be much appreciated.

Will update more details as the event draws closer.

Hope you can make it!Megan

How to find us:Meet at Publix on Cumberland (meet in the very back row of the parking lot) at 9 a.m. to carpool; alternately, feel free to meet us at the park after 12 p.m.
