Join us for a 3 mile hike at Ringtail Ridge Natural Area.
Directions: From downtown San Marcos, take Old Ranch Road 12 (Moore St.) toward Wimberley and proceed about 1/10th mile past Craddock Ave. Turn right onto gravel road between Dakota Ranch Apartments(1818 Old Ranch Road 12)and Crestwood Center (1904 Ranch Road 12).
Look for the sign immediately before the U-Haul facility at 1900 Old Ranch Rd 12. Follow this gravel or dirt road for a quarter of a mile until you reach the big oak and parking lot behind the apartments.
As always, join us for food and conversation at a local restaurant after the hike.
Please note that if you are an experienced hiker, this and all other trails in San Marcos are easy. However, if you are a novice hiker, you need to know that many San Marcos trails are extremely rocky. There are often elevation changes of 50 to 150 feet.
We hike at a moderate pace of about 3 miles an hour.
If you have problems with balance or need to walk slowly, this hike probably is not for you. However, we encourage you to join us for our regular city and neighborhood walks.
