HOSTS: Sara Clements-Sampson of Providence, Torney Smith of the Spokane Regional Health District

SPONSORS: CHAB, Priority Spokane, Spokane Community Indicators

Dear Community Stakeholder:

You are invited to participate in a broad community needs assessment process that will identify priorities for shared action for the entire community. These assessment processes have been held in the past by Priority Spokane, Providence Health Services, St. Lukes, Spokane Regional Health District and other organizations. This time we have come together to hold the assessment process jointlyleveraging resources, time and energy. The process will result in three to five cross-cutting priorities by April 2018. These priorities will guide actions by the host organizations to improve outcomes in Spokane County.

We are adapting the model developed by Priority Spokaneconvening taskforces in each of the following areas important to quality of life: Economic Vitality, Education, Environment, Public Safety, Healthy People, and Housing/Transportation. You have been identified as a person who can bring expertise and passion to this effort, especially in the area of health. We hope you will be available to participate when the taskforce meets. We know your input will be invaluable as we establish the direction of this effort.

It is our expectation that each taskforce will convene up to three times for approximately 2 hours starting this fall through next March and then come together for a joint assembly in early April. Organizations interested in working on the cross-cutting priorities will have additional opportunity to come together to plan, share and measure strategies to improve our community through the Community Health Assessment Board collaborative.

Before attending the first meeting, please check out the Community Indicators Initiative website at http://www.communityindicators.ewu.edu/, which has the indicators we will review for your taskforce area. Please bring your ideas on other metrics that provide insight in this category of life in Spokane. Your knowledge and leadership will help us to complete this vital step and arrive at an inspirational set of priorities for improving our community. We hope you will join us. If you would like to attend other taskforce groups, please email Ryan Oelrich, Executive Director of Priority Spokane, at priorityspokane@outlook.com.
