Yet another trip to the scenic Chattooga River! I think it is worth it, especially at this time of the year. This time we are going to start at Warwaman Dell near Clayton and take Section 2 of Bartram National Trail going SE.
This trail is rated as moderate, and we will have to walk for 9.4 a day (it is an in and out trip) and then find a campsite near the river. My map shows 2399' elevation gain on the way in, and 2860' elevation gain on the way out.
Our main reward is not just the views of the scenic Chattooga River, but what Tim Homan describes as "one of North Georgia's most beautiful scenes - Dicks Creek Falls."
We are going to meet at 8:30 AM at Park and Ride spot 3652 Wallis Rd, Flowery Branch, GA 30542 for carpooling. I entered Curt's Restaurant, 3440 Branch Rd, Flowery Branch, GA 30542 as a meetup address only because meetup would not accept the Park and Ride place as a meetup spot. If you choose not to meet at Park and Ride for carpooling, please let me know so that we won't be waiting for you. Warwoman Dell near Clayton GA is the location where the trailhead is. You can meet us there, but again please let me know.
How to find us:As you take exit 16 going North on I-985 and then turn right on Wallis Road, you should see a Park and Ride place on your right. This where we meet. Look for a white Honda Civic and black poodle.
