What we'll do
February 10, Saturday, Day hike Davis Gulch Trail Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. This trail in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area follows an area that was part of a gold mining ditch system from the French Gulch Area to Placer Road west of Redding. This is a 3 mile trail with a 2-300 ft. elevation change over the course of the walk. We can do 1.5 miles, 3 miles, or 6 miles if cars can be left at Brandy Creek beach. The trail traverses chaparral, mixed conifer and hardwood trees. This is a delightful trail with a variety of vegetative habitats and trail conditions. Meet at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area Visitors center at 9 am. Bring weather appropriate clothing and water. Families welcome if everyone can walk with adults. Dogs must be on leash, no exceptions. Rain cancels but sprinkles okay. Parking permit purchase required for automobiles. For more information contact leader John Livingston at email: [masked].
