A day hike to Freel Peak (10,886 feet) near the south shores of Lake Tahoe is being proposed. Freel Peak is the highest peak in the Lake Tahoe Basin. After summitting Freel, hikers have the option to walk the saddle over to Jobs Sister Peak; the second highest peak in the basin (10,833 feet). Expect spectacular summer wildflower blossoms to persist, and grand views along the trail and at the summits. The round trip hiking distance is about 6-8 miles (8 if you are bagging both peaks), with net 2,600 feet of elevation gain. Therefore, the hike is strenuous for most. The hiking pace however will be easy with frequent breaks, and photo taking opportunities.

Bring $$ for your carpool driver, plenty of drinking water, warm layers for changeable weather conditions, hat, sunscreen, lunch, and snacks to sustain a 8-mile round trip hike. Hiking shoes with good traction are absolutely essential for this hike. Hiking poles are also recommended. Severe rain or wind forecast would necessitate canceling or postponing the event. An optional dinner meeting at a local area restaurant is also being proposed.
