Cutting the Curtain: Helping a Child Cope with Death

A half-day conference on Saturday, April 14th, 2018 presented by the Edith B. Jackson Child Care Program.

Convened to enhance parents', caregivers' and teachers' understanding of how grief may present itself in a young child's behavior, conversations, and relationships.

9:30 amKeynote address Norka T. Malberg, PsyD.

Dr. Malberg is a certified child psychoanalyst. She trained at the Anna Freud Centre in London and obtained here clinical doctorate from University College London for her work on clinical applications of attachment theory to working clinically with chronically ill adolescents. She is currently in private practice in New Haven, CT where she is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Yale Child Study Center.

Joseph Saccio, MD. Retired Associate Clinical Professor, Yale Child Study Center and retired clinical practitioner of child and adult psychiatry.

Prakash K. Thomas, MD. Adult & child psychiatrist, an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Yale Child Study Center, a candidate psychoanalyst at the Western New England Institute of Psychoanalysis, and in private practice in New Haven.

Sandi Lando Welch. Founder and Executive Director, Circle Camps for Grieving Children.

Lynn Wiener, EDD, MS, MA. Director, Yale New Haven Hospital Day Care Centers.
