Get ready for the cold and flu season by learning how to stock and use a herbal medicine cabinet. Using common kitchen ingredients, and medicinal plants youll be ready to treat common winter illnesses both preventatively and acutely. Together we will make an herbal cough syrup for everyone to take home. Everyone will leave with a cough syrup well make together, recipes and a new approach for staying healthy through the cold and flu season.

Instructor Bio: Rebecca Singer, RHT, is a registered Medical Herbalist, combining modern scientific understanding of herbs and health with the traditional knowledge of healing. Rebecca has been working with plants as an avid gardener, artist, and educator for the past fifteen years. She is especially interested in the co-evolutionary relationship we have with plants, sustainable practices, and the places that art and healing intersect. Having recently moved from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast she has been enjoying exploring this lush new landscape of medicinal plants.

The Compost Education Centre is located on unceded and occupied Indigenous territories, specifically the land of the Lekwungen speaking peoplethe Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. These nations are two of many, made up of individuals who have lived within the porous boundaries of what is considered Coast Salish, Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Kwakwa'wakw Territory (Vancouver Island) since time immemorial. At the CEC we seek to respect, honour and continually grow our own understandings of Indigenous rights and history, and to fulfill our responsibilities as settlers, who live and work directly with the land and its complex, vital ecologies and our diverse, evolving communities.

Compost Education Centre memberships get you free workshops, discounts at garden centres around town and more great perks! Sign up or learn more on our website.
