Course Objectives:The overall purpose of this CME event is to present specific innovations, at the national and local levels, in undergraduate and graduate medical education, primary care and translational research and in clinical practice, and learn how to incorporate these innovations in their practice environment as an effective response to the emerging challenges in family medicine education and clinical practice.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Develop strategies to improve their practice environment to respond to emerging health care trends by understanding the emerging healthcare trends and the impact they have are having, on the practice of family medicine at the national and local levels.

2. Incorporate specific innovations in their clinical practice and role in medical education by evaluating the nature and scope of new innovations discussed by family medicine professionals and considering how these are designed to address the changing educational and practice environments.

3. Create a plan to improve and optimize innovations that can be integrated in their personal work as clinicians, physician educators and primary care scholars by discerning how well-positioned their own practices are to respond to the changing healthcare environment.
