Help Cliff celebrate his 1 year b-day with a butt kicking El Cap adventure...try to keep up w/ him! The weather is finally starting to cool down and it should be an awesome day. For those of you running NC50k, here is a good "taper" run for you...
Meet at El Capitan PreserveSaturday Sep 16th @ 6am for a challenging run (+lots of hiking trust me) with some of the most rewarding mountain views you will find San Diego.Hope you like hills : )
Here's the course profile [http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1764034667]. Out and back is about 11 miles. The elevation more than makes up for lack of distance.
This trail is very tough and unsupported. Be prepared for hot or cold weather andbring plenty of hydration and nutrition. We start at 6am. The gate will still be locked but just park on the shoulder.
Directions: If you're familiar with Barona Casino, the trailhead is a few miles south of the casino on Wildcat Canyon Rd in Lakeside.
Coming north from Lakeside, the El Capitan Open Space Preserve trailhead parking lot is just past the 4 mile marker on Wildcat Canyon Rd, at the intersection of Shenma Rd, on the right side. On the opposite side of the road is Oak Oasis County Park. If you continue a few miles north you'll reach the casino.
