Join us to hear Frederick's perspective on education reform in our country.

Frederick M. Hess is a resident scholarand the director of Education PolicyStudies at the American EnterpriseInstitute (AEI), where he works on K12and higher education issues. He is also the author of the popular EducationWeek blog Rick Hess Straight Up and has served as executive editor of Education Next since 2001.

Before joining AEI, Dr. Hess was a highschool social studies teacher. He hasalso taught at the University of Virginia,the University of Pennsylvania,Georgetown, Rice, and Harvard University.As an educator, political scientist, andauthor, Dr. Hess is often published in scholarly outlets, such as American Politics Quarterly, Harvard EducationReview, Social Science Quarterly,Teachers College Record, and UrbanAffairs Review.

His most recent book is Letters to a Young Education Reformer. Dr. Hesshas also edited influential books onthe Common Core, entrepreneurshipin education, education philanthropy,the impact of education research, andthe Every Student Succeeds Act.
