Amazing Finisher Medals, Great Race Shirts, and DONUTS!
We are thrilled to announce a new addition to the Carolina Donut Festival. Along with the Carolina Donut Dash 5K, the Carolina Donut Festival will host the Bob to Bob’s Half Marathon.
The Bob to Bob’s Half Marathon will begin at Mr. Bob’s Donut Shop of Old Fort, NC and travel to Downtown Marion, to the Mr. Bob’s Donut Shop of Marion and the Carolina Donut Festival. This is a point to point course.
The Carolina Donut Dash 5K will take participants throughout downtown Marion and also end at the Carolina Donut Festival.
All race participants from both the half marathon and 5k will receive race specific finisher medals, sweet race shirts, and an AMAZING Mr. Bob’s Donut at the finish line.
Packet Pick Up:
Both half marathon and 5K: Friday May 19th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Crooked Door Coffee Shop in Marion NC.
Half Marathon: Saturday May 20th from 5:30-6:30 AM at the Tailgate Market in Marion, NC.
5K: Saturday May 20th from 5:30-8:00 AM at the Tailgate Market in Marion, NC.
There will be race day registration if the races do not sell out in advance. Last year the event sold out weeks in advance.
The Half Marathon is capped at 200 runners.
The 5K is capped at 100 runners.
Refunds and Transfers
There are no refunds if you are unable to attend, You may transfer between races if there is an open space. You will be charged the additional cost if you transfer from the 5K to the half but we will not refund if you transfer from the half to the 5k. You may transfer your spot to someone else if needed.
Starting Line Shuttle Service:
Shuttle 1 Departs Marion Tailgate Market at 6:00 AM to head to Old Fort.
Shuttle 2: Departs Marion Tailgate Market at 6:45 AM to head to Old Fort.
For the Half Marathon we will be providing a Shuttle from Packet Pick Up in Marion to the starting line in Old Fort. When you finish the race in Marion, you will be within blocks of your car and the Carolina Donut Festival. The Shuttles will leave Marion prominently at 6:00 and 6:45 am.
If you DO NOT want to ride the shuttle bus from Marion to the starting line in Old Fort, YOU will be responsible for your own transportation before and after the race. There will not be a shuttle service after the race.
Bob to Bob’s Half Marathon:
Saturday May 20th at 7:30 AM (Starts at Mr. Bob’s Donuts in Old Fort)
Donut Dash 5K:
Saturday May 20th at 8:30 AM (Starts at the Marion Tailgate Market)
Half Marathon Time Limit:
There is a time limit of 4 hours or an 18 minute mile.. There will be a sweeper car at the end. If you are not able to complete the race or maintain a pace to stay in the time frame, the Sweeper Car will bring you back to the end of the course.
Aid Stations and Bathrooms:
There will be aid stations at mile markers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 on the half marathon course. Water and Gatorade will be at each station. A sweet treat will be at mile stations 4, 8, and 10.. Donut Holes will be at mile 6 station. There will be Port a Potties at Aid Stations 2, 4, 6, 8, 10.
There will be a water station at the halway point for the 5k.
There will be bathrooms available near the Half Marathon starting line in Old Fort and near the Tailgate Market in Marion.
Overall and Age Group Awards for Half Marathon and 5K:
Saturday May 20th at 10:00 (Location TBA)
Half Marathon Age Groups:
Age groups will be in 5 year increments:
(18-24), (25-29), (30-34), (35-39), (40-44), (45-49), (50-54), (55-59), (60-64), (65-69) (70+)
5K Age Groups
Age groups will be in 5 year increments:
(3-10), (11-17), (18-24), (25-29), (30-34), (35-39), (40-44), (45-49), (50-54), (55-59), (60-64), (65-69) (70+)
Participants Donut Table and FInisher Medals:
Both races will receive finisher medals and DONUTS at the finish line. Be sure you receive your free Mr. Bob’s Donut right after the finish line on West Court Street. You must present your bib tab to receive your free donut.
Carolina Donut Festival:
The festival hours will be 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The finish line for the festival will be right in the center of the festival. This will be a great after party as you finish the race. There will be art and craft vendors, music, Miss Donut Pageant, Donut Eating Contest, food, drinks, activities for the kids, and of course DONUTS from several shops in North Carolina.
All proceeds for both races and the festival will go to McDowell County Schools.
