Organized with the assistance of the Tahoma Audubon and resident caretaker, BHAS is returning this year to the Morse Preserve. The Morse Wildlife Preserve (Graham, WA) was established by a donation of land from Lloyd and Maxine Morse in 1995. It is situated at the headwaters of the north fork of Muck Creek and consists of various habitats on 98 acres including conifer forest, wetlands, oak savanna and prairie. Despite the size of the preserve, the nature trails are limited and easy to walk including recently constructed boardwalks and an observation tower. A variety of spring-bird arrivals, consistent with the habitat mosaic, should be seen.

Birders with all levels of experience are welcome but there is a limit of 12 people. We will meet at the far northeast corner of the Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse (LHIW) parking lot (corner of Yelm Hwy and Corporate Center Drive) behind LHIW at 7:00 a.m. This is a large parking lot accessible from either College Avenue or Corporate Center Drive. Bring binoculars and light snack food if you wish. There may still be some residual wet areas to walk through so boots would be advisable to bring with you and by all means dress appropriately for the weather conditions. For more information and/or to sign up contact Joe Zabransky at [masked] or [masked] only.
