MAY 12 BIRD BANDING WITH STEVE SIMMONS Steve runs several nest monitoring and banding operations in Merced County. He has invited Stanislaus Audubon to join him in his rounds on May 12. Every participant will be allowed to assist in the banding of at least one nestling. Birds that may be using the nest boxes at that time of our visit could include Wood Duck, Barn Owl, Western Screech-Owl, woodpeckers, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Tree Swallow, Oak Titmouse, House Wren and Western Bluebird. Meet at the Stanislaus County Library parking lot (1500 I Street, Modesto) at 7:00 a.m. Bring water and snacks. We will return to Modesto mid- to late afternoon. Trip leader: Ralph Baker, [masked].
