ABOUT THE HIKE: As a lovely, refreshing way to start your Saturday, you will be walking around the five lakes of Yorba Regional Park. This is a three mile, beginner, relaxed pace walk with minimal elevation gain/loss. The trail is paved and shaded by trees on both sides. Originally part of a Spanish land grant to Don Bernardo Yorba, the Yorba Regional Park now contains 140 acres of open space opened by the County of Orange to the public in 1976. In addition to its own string of lakes, the park adjoins the wetlands of the Santa Ana River. The park and its trails are dog friendly. After the walk, well go over to Wholesome Choice, a middle eastern market where we can sit and have coffee, tea, fruits, and hot out of the oven bread. http://ocparks.com/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=15870

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From the 91 Freeway, take the Imperial Highway off ramp heading north.... turn right on E. La Palma Avenue.... turn right into the free lot. If this is full, continue east on La Palma into the entrance to the Yorba Regional Park. After passing through the gate house entry, turn right and proceed into parking lot #1. The OC Parks day use parking fee is $5 or you can use your Annual Pass for all Orange County parks and beaches. We meetup by the bathrooms next to the baseball fields, which is in sight of both the free and the pay parking lots.
