Hello gang,

Serious miles for the full marathon now... This Saturday full marathoners will get to do three loops around Fresh Pond and one loop around Mystic Lakes. Please do make sure to review the route map by Friday.

We will meet at the lawn next to the Au Bon Pain cafe near Davis Square T stop. For those who take the T, look for Au Bon Pain after you get out of the station.

Nutrition Tips: Please make sure to follow the advice from the nutrition clinic, especially if you feel like you are feeling completely exhausted during the last few miles of the long runs. Experiment with the options in the notes while preparing for the weekend long runs so that you will have the perfect routine for your big race day in October.

Parking: There is street parking without meters along Holland Street about three blocks away from Au Bon Pain (driving away from the Davis Square intersection). You can get additional parking tips on free/cheap parking sports from alum runners as well.

Target mileage for this Saturday: 20 miles for full marathoners, 10 miles for half marathoners. If you new to the group, or wish to adjust your target mileage, please talk to the coach before starting. Full marathoners: Minuteman - Fresh pond, Mystic Loop, - back to Davis Sq. Half marathoners: Minuteman trail up to Bow Street and back.

Group run logistics: Please come prepared for a short run (or run/walk). Leave your bags, etc. at home or in your car so that you can run easily. Please make sure to arrive 10 minutes early to sign in, warm up, etc.

Coach will brief you at the beginning of the run about the distance (about two to three miles) and direct you through stretching exercises. It is absolutely OK to run/walk in the beginning. Many of us are first-time runners. So please dont be shy :-).

Suggested weekly schedule:

We recommend two or three short mid-week run/walk sessions on your own or with your local friends from work or home. Midweek runs will stay short for the whole season (3-4 miles, etc). Only the Saturday runs will gradually get longer over many weeks. You may want to experiment to find a sustainable schedule that works best for you. For example, run early in the morning before work (recommended), before lunch, or after work, etc.

Sunday - 4 miles easy run

Monday - Rest

Tuesday - 4-6 miles easy run

Wednesday - Track workout

Thursday - 5 miles tempo

Friday - Rest

Saturday - Group long run
