This is a beginner friendly rated ride that will take us around south county that takes us down to the coast and through the beginner canyons of Santiago. There will be lots of opportunity for beginners to get exposure to lots of riding environments including some easy canyons and local streets. Riders will have many opportunities to practice throttle control, looking through turns, and situational awareness which are important and key skill as beginner riders. This is meant to be a fun easy paced ride but also an opportunity to work on and gain new skills.
Anyone is welcome to join in for all or part of the ride or if you want, you can just meet us at Bruxie for breakfast. I will initially be limiting the ride to 6 riders with the potential to open up if LT's and Sweep (with comms) are found for the ride.
This is a little over a 63 mile ride that should take about two hours of total ride time. We will stop half way through the ride for breakfast.
Starting from Cycle Gear in Laguna Hills, we'll make our way to the 133 and follow that down to the coast. We'll then head north up PCH and head back through Irvine by way of Newport Coast Drive to Culver to University Dr. We'll then cut across Irvine to get to Culver and follow that up to Bruxie where we'll grab breakfast. Afterwards, we'll head up to Santiago Canyon by way of Portola and Jamboree. We'll cruise down Santiago and hit Live Oak as well. From RSM, we'll then make our way back to Cycle Gear using local streets in Mission Viejo and Lake Forest.
This should be a very easy paced ride for beginners with lots of places to stop if we need to. Please be aware though that certain stretches of this route will be at freeway speeds.
