Join us Thursday, October 12 at 4:00 pm at Miantonomi Towerin Newport for a fascinating presentation by Col. Joseph McGraw, currently an associate military professor at the Naval War College. Col. McGraw willpresent the context, history and story of what happened on Aquidneck Island leading up to the Battle of Rhode Island on 29-30 August 1778, then point out the terrain upon where the battle was fought. Miantonomi Hill was an important site in this story and provides the best vantage point on Aquidneck Island to peer into the past. This special ALT event is free and open to the public. Mianonomi Park is an ALT-conserved property.
