The main trail at Jenkinson Lake follows the shoreline, most of the trail is shaded. The trials do cross through and follow some campground roads. When you are hiking on the roads please watch your step because the pavement can end sharply along the edges. The full hike around the lake is over eight (8) miles.

WHO:This hike is for those who are in good physical hiking condition. The hike is not strenuous but the distance is close to 8 miles. For those interested in a a shorter out and back hike at the lake please sign up and we can break into groups.


WHEN:We will meet at 7:00am depart at 7:15am- Peet's Coffee in the Safeway parking lot on 19th street in downtown Sacramento


TRAILHEAD :1 hour drive from Sacramento, east on Hwy 50


CARPOOL: Due to liability issues, BAS cannot organize or provide carpooling. At the Park & Ride parking lot , please be prepared to arrange your carpooling among yourselves and to help out drivers with gas money (A good rule of thumb is $3.00 for each hour of drive time.) Please read and sign our carpool agreement at www.smartwaiver.com/v/bascarpool (only needs to be done once)


WHAT TO BRING:Layered clothing that wicks moisture, comfortable hiking boots, hiking poles, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, sunglasses, at least 2 liter containers of water (hydration bladders or Nalgene-type bottles), food for lunch and snacks and a camera, (optional)$$ for gas (Sorry, pets and alcohol are not permitted on BAS events)

Please note that a current Bayside Adventure Sports Membership is required for our events.This annual fee helps offset our high insurance cost and helps keep most of our events free. For individuals it's only $25/year! Families are $50/year. If you are new to BAS, a free 1-month trial is available and valid for our free events. Each person participates at their own risk and should have their own health insurance. BAS does not cover any injuries in any of their events.

Sorry, Dogs and alcohol are not allowed on BAS events due to liability issues.
