Returning where we left off in the North/East Bay, we continue our journey circumnavigating the Bay Area Ridge Trail. We continue on the Santa Rosa to Oakland segment. This is hike #41 (of planned 44). Due to a wash out from last winter at Pinole Creek (across Alhambra Valley Road), this hike is one segment of the last stretch to Sobrante Ridge Regioanl Preserve (final segment to be completed at later date).

The trail segments are Franklin Canyon Road, Feeder Trail No 1, Ferndale Road, Alhambra Valley Road, Ridge Trail, Ridge Road, Windmill Trail, Whipsnake Trail and Black Phoebe Trail.

Anticipate approximately approx 1,900 ft of elevation gain.

The hike will be of moderate difficulty (due to mileage, elevation and segemtns of hard surfaces). Hike duration will likely be approximately 5 hours (9AM to 2:00PM); approx 2 miles per hour pace (overall - includes stop times). We will plan to have a lunch break at about 11:30AM at approx 5.5 mile mark.

We will meet and gather between 8:00AM and 8:30AM at Fernandez Ranch Trailhead (1081 Christie Road, Martinez, CA 94553).

We will ask for volunteers for carpooling from meeting point at Fernandez Ranch to hike start point near Dutra Ranch; approx 20 minutes. Here is the carpool route -

Fernandez Ranch to Hike Start Point

We plan to start hike no later than 9:00AM. Due to very limited parking at hike start point, please meet group at the Fernandez Ranch for the carpool plan.

If you have questions or running late, please call me at[masked]-5798.
