* The views arespectacular on a sunny day (see below a photo from my last visit). A snowstorm or other inclement weather/avalanche/road conditions will result in achange in destination. Please sign up only if you are flexible.

* You need to have snowshoes, gaiters, hiking poles with baskets, dry warm layers, gloves, hat, and waterproof boots if possible.
* Drivers of AWD cars with snow tires will be given preference; the number of such drivers willdetermine the size of the group. Please don't forget to let me know if you are willing to drive a winter-worthy car (AWD + Snow Tires). Thanks.



WTA Description

Trail(Co-ordinates:[masked],[masked])

Total Length: About5 miles

Elevation change: About1100'

Difficulty: Moderate, a couple of steep sections

Pace: Social, group stays together

Trail head

From Bellingham follow the Mount Baker Highway (SR 542) to the very end (55 miles). The trailhead to Artist Point is at the last parking area on the Mt. Baker Highway. Upon arrival at Heather Meadows, continue to drive around Picture Lake (one-way) and past the ski lifts. The large parking area is on the right at the end of the road. The trail begins left of the bathroom facilities.

Tentative Itinerary

07:00am - Ash Way P&R <-- please get there early as we will leave promptly, considering the long drive ahead

10:00am -Start hiking

12:00pm -Lunch at Huntoon Point

02:30pm- Back to trailhead

04:00pm - Optional Early Dinner at La Fiamma in Bellingham

06:00pm - Ash Way P&R

Important:

1.Youand you aloneare completely responsible for your safety.

2.No Passis required to park at the Ski Area.

3.No dogson this hike please.

4. Wear sturdy waterproof boots, have layers of clothing, hat, gaiters, poles, bring plenty of water, snack, packed lunch, and anything else of 10 essentials.

5. Please bring$15for your driver and a bag for your muddy boots if you plan on being a rider.

6. Update your RSVP in advance if your plans change. Two no-shows and/or late cancellation and you won't be able to participate in my future events.

7. Finally, please answer the question about carpool. Please add yourself to the wait list. I will move you to the main list as drivers with reliable and safe cars sign up. Thanks!
