Sabeel Center, located in Des Plaines, Illinois, is a new multi-purpose community center, and an initiative of IFANCA (Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America), a global leader in Halal education.
The Center is proud to hostAmerica-to-Zanzibar Exhibit of Muslim Culturesfrom September 20th through December 22nd, 2019.
This popular exhibit was in the works for over five years and was wonderfully received during its initial run at the Childrens Museum of Manhattan (CMOM), and more rcently, at the Creative Discovery Museum (Chattanooga, TN), Muhammad Ali Center (Louisville, KY), and currently at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, PA, till September 2019.
Immersive and interactive, it is the first exhibit of its kind designed for children and families to celebrate Muslim cultures in the U.S. and around the world through exciting hands-on experiences in art, architecture, music, design, travel, trade and more. Visitors will also marvel at a 3D exploration of mosque architecture from the Maldives to China.
Children can also explore ancient trade routes on a two-storydhow(boat) or on a (wooden) camel. They will thrill to the excitement of a global marketplace as they pretend to buy, sell and trade fruit, fish, spice, ceramic, textiles, and rugs. Original works by emerging American Muslim artists join traditional art forms including intricately designed tiles, ornate ceramics, and complex patterned rugs in this unique innovative exhibit.
We are proud and excited to be hosting it at Sabeel Center.
