This 16 hour course focuses on risk management in all types of emergency response. Using a risk assessment process focuses on reducing the probability that responders are exposed to high severity hazards. We will discuss both strategic and operational risks and how decision making influences risk sharing. This interdisciplinary class will cover the Deliberate Risk Assessment Process and show students how to apply the process for the following types of emergency incidents: structure fires, wildland fires, urban search & rescue (USAR), technical rescue, and other all hazard events.
The course will utilize facilitated discussion and group exercises.
