What should I bring to the event?
DSLR/Mirrorless camera, wide angle and telephoto lenses, tripod, filters, camera bag, cold weather clothing - lots of layers, mitts, beanie/toque, insulated winter boots, thermals, spare batteries, spare memory cards, headlamp & lots of energy!
What are my transportation options for getting to and from the event?
We will be meeting at 7am in Banff on day 1 of the tour. Transport to/from Calgary International airport can be easily arranged with Banff Airporter or Brewster Express Bus and takes about 1.5hrs. You will be dropped off at the location of your request in the Banff area on the final day around 6pm just after sunset.
How cold will it be and will there be snow & wild weather?
This time of year can be very cold but sometimes it is mild too. Expect -6C (21 F) to -20C (-4 F) but it could be warmer or colder than that (colder at night, or if it is windy, which it often is at Abraham Lake). It also regularly snows in January/February which is great for winter wonderland landscape photography which we will have plenty of opportunities to capture along the way. Bring thin inner gloves and large winter gloves for over the top of those which makes camera operation much easier in the cold. Winter boots are essential and a down jacket is recommended.
What is NOT included in the event?
* All food and drink - make sure to bring snacks/drinks as options are limited. We will have access to a kitchen at the accommodation and a nearby restaurant for dinner.
* Travel and medical insurance. I highly recommend you purchase these before embarking on this trip.
* Your flights and travel to Banff, Alberta. Once you arrive into Banff I will pick you up and take care of the rest!
How can I contact the organizer with any other questions?
