Beware... The Pinnacles may be very hot this year!!

This is a 9 mile loop that begins at the Chaparral Picnic Area(West Pinnacles entrance) (Thru Soledad). We start with Juniper trail and over to the High Peaks Trail, joining the Condor Gulch Trail then down to Bear Gulch (water available). Then head up to the reservoir via Moses Spring Trail. After a snack break at the reservoir. we will then head up High Peaks trail...connect with Juniper Trail and back to the Chaparral Picnic Area . Those who wish to traverse the caves, bring a flashlight. Also, if rains have been recent, shoes may get wet so prepare accordingly!

Meeting Location: West Entrance at the trailhead parking area. As you enter, you will see the new Chaparral Ranger Station. There is a entrance fee ($15 unless you have a park pass) at this point. Continue 2 miles or so to the parking area (old Ranger Station location) We will meet there.

Bring 2-3 liters of water!!

Bring snacks and/or lunch...we will take a break at the Reservoir!!!

Meeting Time: 8 am at the Chaparral Parking lot!!!

Difficulty: "Strenuous" for distance and elevation gain
Total elevation gain: around 3000 ft.
Mileage: around 9 miles
Time: around 5 hours

Bring either headlamp or flashlight if traversing the caves!!

Driving Directions:Route to Pinnacles: southbound Hwy 101 from Salinas into the town of Soledad at Hwy 146, eastward on Hwy 146(through town of Soledad); follow signs to Pinnacles entrance which is about a 30 minute drive/14 miles once leaving Hwy 101.
