Join the University of Pittsburgh Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Engineering Graduate Student Organization (EGSO), and Graduate Women in Engineering Network (GWEN) for the 4th Annual Women in STEM Conference on Saturday, February 10, 2018. The goal of this conference is to inspire and promote young women to gain confidence and achieve excellence in the underrepresented fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). While women comprise half of college graduates and the workforce, they represent less than a quarter of professionals in STEM. In order to advance intellectually as a scientific community, there exists a growing urgency to utilize this untapped talent and encourage females in STEM fields. The agenda for this event will feature keynote speakers from distinguished STEM roles as well as several breakout sessions led by representatives from industry, academia, and the professional sector. Presentations will be interactive and focus on topics related to professional development, career preparation, and female leadership. This year, we are also holding a poster competition with the goal of advertising the research opportunities that current graduate and undergraduate students are working on. The event is geared towards undergraduate and graduate students pursuing STEM degrees, though anyone is welcome to attend! Dress is business casual. Lunch and refreshments will be served.
