Coosa is a strenuous hike but, frankly, it is overhyped. With the right attitude, anyone with a modicum of hiking experience can do it. Our goal is to burn lots of calories, and not set speed records; so the pace will be humane in the 6.5 - 7.0 hr range. My app shows that the hike burns 1600 calories, but most other apps show more than that. An internet search will turn up plenty of information about Coosa if you want to know more about it. But trust me, you know you need to do this, whatever it involves. It's your New Year's resolution after all, and it's already February. Now click the blue check-mark button!

To keep things interesting, we are going to do it every which way - clockwise, counter-clockwise, Sunday and afternoon/evening. This series is guaranteed to ramp up your metabolism, energize you, and get the pounds melting away.

Hike number one in the slimdown series is the traditional counter-clockwise loop.
