We are happy to bring in some awesome instructors this year. The first instructor is Captain Aaron Heller from On Scene Training Associates, LLC bringing his knoweldge about "Firefighting in Strip Malls."This 4 hour course is an interactive lecture covering strategies and tactics for Strip Malls and Taxpayers.
Captain Aaron Hellerbegan his fire service career in 1984. He is a captain in charge of training for the Hamilton Twp. NJ Fire District #9 where he has served since 1990. Capt. Heller is a NJ Level 2 instructor, fire official, and EMT. He is a past chief of the New Egypt Volunteer Fire Company and serves as Treasurer of the Plumsted Township Board of Fire Commissioners. Heller is a senior instructor with the Mercer County Fire Academy under the auspices of the Mercer County Community College. Capt. Heller instructs and has been the keynote presenter at several national, regional, and local training events throughout the United States and abroad. Captain Hellers writings have been published in Fire Engineering Magazine, Fire & Rescue Magazine, The Fire Department Training Network, and several local publications. Captain Heller was recognized by the County of Ocean and the New Jersey State Assembly for his life-saving efforts in the rescue of an elderly woman from an apartment fire in 2004. Aaron is a founding member of the Jersey F.O.O.L.S chapter of the Fraternal Order Of Leatherhead Society. He is the owner of On Scene Training Associates, LLC.
The second but certainly not least, is First Responsr Sleep Recovery by Jacqueline & Sean Toomey.This 4 hour course will equip members with imperative information and practices to proactively address the risk of conditions caused by sleep deprivation in the fire service known to be the leading killers of firefighters.
A little about First Responder Sleep Recovery:This dynamic course is the First Responder Sleep Recovery Program. It equips members with imperative information and practices to proactively address the risk of conditions caused by sleep deprivation in the fire service known to be the leading killers of firefighters. The course teaches techniques and strategies verifiably proven to combat sleep disorders, PTSD and to improve overall physiological and psychological rest and recovery.
This program provides proven strategies and techniques that decrease the risk of deadly conditions linked to sleep deprivation that risk firefighter lives including: diabetes, anxiety, depression, obesity, stroke, alcohol abuse, cardiovascular disease and suicide.Through this impactful training, participants will leave both informed and equipped to improve their sleep quality on shift and at home, thereby improving their overall health and wellness.
This course is designed by sleep subject matter expert Jacqueline Toomey, and co-instructed with career firefighter and fire-science instructor, Sean Toomey. Together they instruct an integrative solution-based class designed with effective measures to combat sleep loss in the fire and emergency services.
The $40.00 entry covers a light breakfast and lunch for the first day. It also includes the "Talking Tactics" event at Cali Bakers Bar and Grill the following day. "Taking Tactics" is an interactive event allowing the students to interact with the instructors one-on-one. This is a great way to build relationships in the fire service and in your personel life.
