UVU Broadway Festival

Join Utah Valley University's School of the Arts for the annual UVU Broadway Festival for a day of professional workshops with Broadway, TV and film professionals from Glee, Waitress the Musical, Les Miserables, Wicked, the TV show Smash, and Mama Mia.This year's experience will include development opportunities that prepare talent for stage, tv and film.

Audition for the Concert
In addition to the workshops, students will be able to audition to sing in the evening concert. For information regarding auditioning, please email

Workshop Admission: Free
Open to:Students from 9th to 12th grade.
Registration: Must register for admission.
Free Evening Concert:Included for workshop participants. For family/friends to attend the concert please register byclicking here.


8:30 am to 9:00 am - Checkin/Registration
At the UVU School of Arts.

9:00 am to 10:15 am - Audition Workshop (all)
Michael Mott will judge and select one female and one male to perform for the evening concert with Jenna Ushkowitz and Andy Mientus. Audition workshop will also include training in audition technique.

10:30 am to 11:45 am - Television/Film Career Workshop (all)
Taught by Jenna Ushkowitz and Traci Hainsworth.

12:00 pm to 1:00 pm - Lunch Break
Food available at UVU food courts.

1:15 pm to 5:30 pm - Three Workshop Rotations
(break out sessions)

Workshops offered by three industry professionals each teaching one workshops lasting 1 hour 15 min with 15 min transition time.

- Session One: 1:15 pm to 2:30 pm
- Session Two: 2:45 pm to 4:00 pm
- Session Three: 4:15 pm to 5:30 pm

5:30 - 6:45 Dinner Break
Food available at the UVU food court.

7:30 - 9:00 Concert with Michael Mott & Friends
The concert is free to attend and will feature Jenna Ushkowitz (Glee/Waitress), Andy Mientus (Les Miserables/Smash), and two of your peers!


Michael Mott, Audition Workshop
Michael Mott, Playbill's "Contemporary Musical Theatre Songwriters You Should Know", is a composer, lyricist, singer, and actor from NYC. Mott has had the great fortune of working with some of the best singers in the business both in the recording studio and on stage in his touring show, Michael Mott & Friends. His collaborations include TONY Award Nominees Jeremy Jordan, Laura Osnes, Orfeh, Sierra Boggess, Zachary Levi, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Adrienne Warren, Justin Guarini, Brian Justin Crum, Shayna Steele, James Snyder, Jackie Burns, Mitch Jarvis, Michael Lanning, Marissa McGowan, Crystal Monee Hall, Loren Allred, Natalie Weiss, Teal Wicks, Jason Gotay, Ryan Silverman and countless others. Additionally, Michael has written and recorded several stand alone pop/ R&B/ top 40 songs.

Jenna Ushkowitz, TV/Film Career Workshop
Jenna Ushkowitz is known for her role as Tina Cohen-Chang for five seasons of the 3-time Emmy nominated, FOX television series,Glee. Most recently, Jennajoined Tony Award winnerJessie MuellerandKeala Settleas Dawn in the hit Broadway musical,Waitress.Last summer, Jenna starred in the Hollywood Bowl special production of Hair alongside Kristen Bell, Amber Riley and Sarah Hyland. Prior to becoming a Gleek, Jenna was on Broadway in the Tony Award winning production ofSpring Awakeningwhere she performed the roles of Ilse, Martha, Anna and Thea.

Traci Hainsworth from UVU, TV/Film Career Workshop
Traci has spent 20+ years working on multi-million dollar productions as a senior executive at Warner Brothers, the Walt Disney Company, and Miramax Corporation. Traci led global promotions tied to over 130 films and 70 network and cable productions. Some of the corporations were Pennzoil, M&M/Mars, Dr Pepper, Ford Motor Company, Chrysler Corp., Nestle and Kraft, to name just a few.On the agency/corporate side, Traci represented major international corporations in entertainment marketing including Ferragamo, Bulgari, Swarovski, Swatch, Rimowas and Bang & Olufsen.Traci regularly guest lectures on How to Audition for Television and Film; How to Act a Monologue; Show Business as a Business: How to Sign the Job; Acting Coach for the Individual; Dialogue Coach for the Individual.

Amanda Crabb from UVU, Voice Workshop
Amanda is an Assistant Professor of Musical Theater at Utah Valley University where she teaches voice, acting and works with the Musical Theater BFA students. Amanda graduated with an M.M. from The Boston Conservatory and also has a BFA from Brigham Young University in MDT and Theater Education. Amanda Music Directs in the region as well as at the University. She has performed professionally and continues to perform in the area. Some of her most recent credits include; Tarzan, Big Fish, Catch Me if You Can, In the Light, and 9 to 5. You can also find Amanda performing in the 1st Alto section of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Ryan Delilo from UVU, Dance On-Camera Workshop
Ryan Di Lello is a top 6 finalist and All-Star from the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance. He's also known for his appearances on Dancing with the Stars, Bones, and the Hollywood movie 'What to Expect When You're Expecting.' Ryan starred in the Broadway show Burn the Floor and has taught and performed ballroom dance in more than 45 countries around the world. He is a coach, choreographer, and a current team director for the UVU Ballroom Dance Company.

Suzie Balser from Utah COPA, Dance Workshop
Suzie graduated from BYU with a BFA in Music Dance and Theatre where she performed as a Young Ambassador and won the Theatre Departments award for Best Supporting Actress and an Irene Ryan Nomination for Ilona Ritter in She Loves Me. Acting credits include Aheh in Sunfish at the New York ASCAP foundation musical theatre workshop with Stephen Schwartz, Stephanie in the New York production of Katie Thompson and Patrick Livingstons R.R.R.E.D., Sophie in the Las Vegas production of Mamma Mia!, Nellie Forbush in Tuacahns South Pacific, Molly in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Winnie Tate in Annie Get Your Gun, Laurie in Oklahoma!, Maude in Funny Girl, and Demeter in CATS. In addition to the stage, Suzie can be seen in local and national commercials. In conjunction with performing Suzie has taught music, dance, and theatre around the country including Encore Academy, Musical Theater in Las Vegas as well as the West Orange, New Jersey Metrowest JCC Theater Arts Program. Most recently, Suzie has taught as adjunct faculty at Western Wyoming Community College Department of Theatre and Dance where she directed Flowers for Algernon and choreographed Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Desert Dance Company. Suzie is also a member of the Actors Equity Association.
