Every year we have a Summer Solstice Ride. In 2017 the solstice falls in the middle of the week, so we'll get out four days early. Don't worry, the day is only about 30 seconds shorter on the day we will do the ride!

The ride starts at sunrise (5:27 a.m.) at the Hopkins Depot and concludes there at sunset (9:03 p.m.). Many stops, but we'll literally ride all day. In past years some have fit in 150 miles. Many have done a double metric century.

We will pace ourselves so that we can last all day, so this will be a leisurely ride, 15-18 miles per hour. If some surge ahead or lag a bit, this won't matter because there will be plenty of stops, including Black Sheep Coffee in South St. Paul, Dunn Brothers on Washington Avenue in Downtown Minneapolis, and Ruby's Roost in Mayer--and many others.

A full day of biking is always memorable. Come join the fun!

Here's the route. It's great if you can download it to your phone app (Strava, Map My Ride, etc.), Garmin or other bike computer:

Thoughts on biking all day:

Keep hydrated. Bring a snack or two. We'll stop often enough for people to refuel, but you'll want to have some nourishment on board as well. Sunscreen!

Usual stuff:

All riders must have a signed waiver on file. Previous riders do not need to fill out a new form, but new riders to the group need to fill out a waiver. Cut and paste this link into your browser. It won't work directly:

It is always more efficient to bring along a completed form. But we'll have some blank forms too.

Helmets mandatory. Make sure to bring a spare tube that fits your bike. Have a back up plan to get home if you have a major mechanical. We'll not intentionally leave anyone behind, but if you have a mechanical breakdown those present can't fix or get lost, you'll need to have a plan to get home.

No need to RSVP "No" if you have no plans to come. A "No" is for people who first signed up and then decided not to come.

Please keep your RSVP current.

If you have questions, feel free to call me: Ken Bayliss,[masked]-6022.
