This is a brisk 10 mile hike counter clockwise around Lady Bird Lake with a lunch break after 7.5 miles at Banger's on Rainey Street. Enjoy the entire 10 miles of the Roy and Ann Butler hike-and-bike trail, including the scenic Boardwalk along the south shore that was completed in June, 2014. Three quarters of the way through our hike, we'll have a "Smoke Out Saturday" lunch at Banger's.

Banger's knows we're coming, but they don't take reservations on the weekend. For this reason, they suggest we start our hike at 8:30 AM in order to insure we arrive shortly after Banger's opens at 11:00 AM for their popular, once a month "Smoke Out Saturday," when they'll be roasting a whole pig. In addition to roasted pig plates at $15 to $20, Banger's regular menu will be available, with vegetarian options. We'll sit at the picnic tables on the patio. Some tables have servers; other tables you must order at the bar.

At the request of Banger's, we are limiting this event to 40 people. Sign up only if you are certain you will attend. Please be considerate if there is a waiting list. And please be on-time. We'll leave promptly at 8:35 AM. This hike is for people in good to excellent condition. We'll maintain a fast pace with few breaks. Parking is available under Mopac, north and south of the river. And finally, this event will be canceled if the weather is questionable because we don't want to risk sitting outside for lunch in inclement weather.
